The print that started them all, this William Morris inspired luxury silk scarf was created by Maddie Chambers for her MA graduate collection.
The May Morris Scarf features a striking monochrome William Morris inspired wallpaper print. This textile design was originally created for Maddie's MA project, ‘Where is May Morris?’, which sought to draw attention to the absence of female designers in popular history. The roses in this design are taken from an embroidery by May Morris, the design also features the skulls and skeletons of birds as a metaphor for the conditions female designers and makers contemporary to William Morris faced. The design is hand-coloured to achieve an artisan effect inspired by the printing methods and illustrations of William Morris.
The monochrome design with just a hint of lilac makes this the perfect scarf to go with every outfit. Unleash your inner rock chick and style this with your favourite leather jacket or channel May Morris and wrap the design around your shoulders to keep out a chilly evening.
The May Morris print scarf is printed onto luxurious pure silk satin, for a beautifully soft drape with a subtle shine.
